Module 7: Short-term Financing
Conditional Remix & Share Permitted
CC BY-SA
Rating
0.0 stars

This area of financing provides many options for an exporter and in some cases desirable financing options for an importer. It is important to remember that all options carry risk and the greater the risk the higher the cost. When evaluating risk, the associated costs must be a factor in the cost equation. The financing tools that have been presented in other sections merge at this point into potential financing options.MSU Global has teamed with experts in the international finance field to create resources to help increase international skills in the business community. These materials address the need of the international trade practitioner for knowledge and information that is specific to trade finance by providing a means for educators and business practitioners to transfer knowledge, skills, and understanding of the global marketplace to a number of prospective learners. These resources were created around the framework developed by the NASBITE International Certified Global Business Professional Program.

Asynchronous self-guided workshop series designed to guide college faculty through the process of develop, adapting, and/or creating Open Educational Resources for their courses. These workshops were designed specifically to support faculty and staff participating in the Open Western OER Fellowship program at Western Technical College in La Crosse, WI.

Each workshop includes video tutorials, written instruction, and editable templates to support each phase of OER development. Each of the four workshops guides participants through one phase of the OER development:

Workshop 1: Project Planning guides participants through an initial planning phase, in hopes of laying the groundwork for a successful project. It's designed to help participants think through their end product and what will be needed to make it a reality.

Workshop 2: Project Creation covers the core activities of content adaptation, remix, and original creation. This is also where important practical tasks are introduced including using outside source material and prioritizing accessibility.

Workshop 3: Revising and Publishing takes participants through a guided revision process and then leads into final publication.

Workshop 4: Teaching with OER has participants evaluate the creation process and plan for the future. This workshop also discuss ways to use your OER with students and begin to incorporate concepts of open pedagogy into their classrooms.

Reframing the Use of Culturally-Responsive Children's Literature in Early Childhood Environmental and STEM Education: A Reflection to Action Tool to Cultivate Genius
Rating
0.0 stars

This project is a reflection to action tool based on the work of Muhammad (2020) in her book, "Cultivating Genius for Culturally and Historically Relevant Literacy." This tool contains a reflective chart that assesses the impact of each of Muhammad's pursuits including identity, skills, intelligence, criticality, and joy in relation to university, departmental, and course procedures and curriculum. Specific improvements are suggested to cultivate genius in each pursuit in both the Early Childhood STEM Math Methods and Early Childhood Science and Environment Methods courses. As a result of the reflective process, a notable course improvement discovered relates to culturally-responsive children's literature. This tool includes a plan of action to acquire new Math, STEM, Science, and Environment children's literature that is culturally-responsive, to add a unit topic related to questioning strategies that cultivate genius, and a modified STEM Literacy project. This tool includes a sample project revision as well as suggested culturally-responsive children's literature in each STEM and Environmental Education area.

This project was created as part of the 2023 Teacher Educator Network for Environmental Education Summit.

“Using Nature Journaling to Facilitate Early Childhood Cycles of Inquiry”
Conditional Remix & Share Permitted
CC BY-NC-SA
Rating
0.0 stars

This nature journaling unit is intended for use in an upper division early childhood education science and environment methods course; and will occur in three steps, likely during three consecutive class periods. The intention of this learning sequence is to prepare early childhood pre-service educators to implement nature journaling experiences in order to facilitate emergent cycles of inquiry that will extend theory build and wonder in young children. First the pre-service educators will learn about nature journaling, how to engage with the practice themselves, and how to facilitate nature journaling with young children. Then, through a series of nature journaling practice activities, the pre-service educators will engage in their own nature journaling practice as it connects to the broader early childhood science question of ecological perspective taking and participation with nature. Finally, they will explore how to facilitate and observe children’s nature journaling practice, and how to utilize the questions that emerge from this recurrent practice in cycles of inquiry planning.

The Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey (WGNHS) has been serving Wisconsin for over 125 years. Part of the Division of Extension at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, WGNHS provides objective scientific information about the geology, mineral resources, and water resources of Wisconsin. We conduct research, map Wisconsin’s geology, and share information through our publications and outreach.

WGNHS has been producing geologic maps, scientific reports, and more for over 125 years. Our publications catalog offers thousands of maps, reports, datasets, and other publications—all of which are available to view and download for free.

The Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey (WGNHS) was created by the Wisconsin Legislature in 1897. It is the descendant of earlier state surveys in Wisconsin, which date back to 1854.

WGNHS, part of the Division of Extension at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, is an interdisciplinary organization that conducts natural resources surveys and research to produce information used for decision-making, problem-solving, planning, management, development, and education. Survey is defined to include resource inventory as well as basic and applied research and analysis. WGNHS has no specific regulatory or enforcement responsibilities.

Mission of WGNHS:
Understanding the earth • Charting its history • Sustaining its resources
The Survey conducts earth-science surveys, field studies, and research.

We provide objective scientific information about the geology, water resources, and mineral resources of Wisconsin.

We collect, interpret, disseminate, and archive natural resource information.

We communicate the results of our activities through publications, technical talks, our website, social media, and responses to inquiries from the public.

These activities support informed decision making by government, industry, business, and individual residents of Wisconsin.
