Bread has been an important part of the human diet since early times. Loaves baked over 5,000 years ago have been found in ancient Egyptian tombs. Wheat has been discovered in pits where human settlements existed 8,000 years ago. In the Stone Age, solid cakes were made from crushed wheat. Bread provided ancient civilizations with a reliable food source.
Students identify the parts of a wheat plant and wheat kernel and investigate the process of milling wheat kernels into flour.

"Hidden Voices" explores the lives of enslaved women in the South Carolina and Georgia Lowcountry and the wider US South, focusing on the early 1800s through the antebellum era, to emancipation in the 1860s. This exhibit draws on sometimes rare written testimonies and images both by and about enslaved women to highlight their often-overlooked everyday histories and perspectives. It explores varieties in women’s forced labor, whether working for enslavers or their families. It examines women’s community lives and life cycles. The specific violence women experienced is also covered here, as well as their resistance and cultural traditions in both urban and rural settings. It concludes by addressing changes and continuities in women’s lives in the Civil War through emancipation’s aftermath.
This exhibit explores enslaved women’s culture and labor in the Lowcountry and beyond, marking both continuities among all enslaved women and distinctive experiences that emerged from their lives in this particular region of the United States. It also considers the ways in which women experienced slavery differently from men because of their gender. From the plantation to urban spaces, bonded women’s labor, family relationships, violence, resistance, and culture were distinctive. Understanding these women’s roles and experiences provides a more complete picture of American slavery, and it illuminates the specific labor and cultural contributions of Lowcountry women during and after slavery.

This website provides a variety of activities for a variety of ages to learn about the enviornment. Each activity has an introduciton, materials list (if materials are needed), directions, and debrief from the activity.

This website by MedicalMutual Insurance Company of Maine provides an example environmental safety plan for a healthcare setting, which includes equipment safety, medication safety, infection control, fire safety, electrical safety, and more. In order to “evaluate” these environmental safety practices, students can reflect on their own experiences being in a healthcare setting as a patient, volunteer, employee, visitor, or student; they can recall which of these environmental safety practices they saw in action and how effective they were. For example, the student may have seen a “no smoking” sign or a properly labeled sharps container. The goal of this activity is to help students become familiar with recognizing and assessing environmental safety in healthcare.

Students are guided through an Explanatory piece of writing. The teacher leads them through an organizational structure to support their writing from the introduction through a conclusion. Explicit strategies and and handout is avaialable for students as a scaffold as they write.

Helping student select information resources in a digital/technological environment is crucial as we move forward to library planning.  
I would use this as part of a lesson on using Badgerlink and, more specifically, Explora resources.  This can be used as a culminating activity after you have already taught the students how to use Explora and can be used to assess how well the students have learned what you have taught.  Pair children up to complete the scavenger hunt as teams.  Provide prizes or badges for completion.

This is a modification of the Illustrative Math lesson, Fact Families, https://www.illustrativemathematics.org/content-standards/tasks/1214. This lesson was used with a tier 3 fourth grade intervention math group to help students understand inverse relationships with addition and subtraction. I modified it to meet the students' needs by using just page four of the Triangle Worksheet attached resource from the Fact Families Illustrative Math lesson. I used only this page because I wanted students to understand the 8 related equations of fact families. I also modified this lesson by using fact families of 20 instead of 10 and students used a 20 bead Rekenrek to model the equations. A common misconception my students had was with the subtraction equations; they often would subtract the minuend from subtrahend instead of vice versa.

This is a modification of the Helping With Math lesson, Addition with "Cuisenaire Sandwiches", https://www.helpingwithmath.com/printables/worksheets/addition-subtraction/1oa6-addition-subtraction07.htm. This lesson was used with a tier 3 fourth grade intervention math group to help students understand the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction. I modified it to meet the students' needs by having students find partners of numbers up to 20 and had them write the related subtraction equations instead of just the addition equations. Students also modeled the subtraction with the Cuisenaire Rods.

Whether school groups visit the acrtual community of Pleasant Ridge near Grant County, Wisconsin or view the replica at Old World Wisconsin, students will be transported back in time to a place where African-Americans ran their own community and lived in peaceful integration with their neighbors of various ethnic backgrounds.  A visit to either location is sure to engage students in critical thinking and interviewing skills as students look to gain insight into what life must have been like during that era.

This resource blends nicely with the 1920s and F. Scott Fitzgerald's, The Great Gatsby. The movie is a fictional exploration of Humanities in this time. It also provides benefits on at least three levels. It allows students to visualize famous writers and artists who worked in Paris during the 1920s. The story itself is valuable, raising the issue of how best to use the past. It can also serve to acquaint students with the City of Paris, one of the great cities of the world.

In this lesson, students will learn about what type of information we can learn from photographs. They will
draw conclusions about the past through exploration of photos and explain how people can learn more about their family history through the use of historical records.
