Helping student select information resources in a digital/technological environment is crucial as we move forward to library planning.
I would use this as part of a lesson on using Badgerlink and, more specifically, Explora resources.  This can be used as a culminating activity after you have already taught the students how to use Explora and can be used to assess how well the students have learned what you have taught.  Pair children up to complete the scavenger hunt as teams.  Provide prizes or badges for completion.

Students are given an arbitray unit circle and then asked the following questions:

Explain why sin(−θ)=−sinθ and cos(−θ)=cosθ. Do these equations hold for any angle ÃŽÂ¸? Explain.

Explain why sin(2Ï€+θ)=sinθ and cos(2Ï€+θ)=cosθ. Do these equations hold for any angle ÃŽÂ¸? Explain.

This task can be used as a short formative assessment, and can be done individually, in pairs, or in small group.

This video introduces the concept of inertia by having students think about how the balls moves in soccer.  It explains that anytime there is a change in motion it is due to a force, and inertia is what keeps an object sitting still or moving at a constant speed. There is a summary of the important information at the end, a list of essential vocabulary, and a quiz of the information from the video.  This would be a great way to introduce and reinforce a lesson on inertia.

This is a 4th grade unit interview assessment for geometry.  Instead of giving a "standardized assessment", this is an interview that covers all of the 4th grade geometry standards.  You as a teacher have a chance to see each individual student work through problems and have them explain their thinking.  It is extremely easy to spot where their deficiencies are and be able to give them extra help in those areas.

How many cubes will fit? This 3 Act Task by Graham Fletcher begins with a picture of an empty cube and one unifix cube inside it. First students make observations and estimates to begin determining how many unifix cubes would fit in the empty cube. Students can then use images with the dimensions of the cube and unifix cube to determine how many unifix cubes fit into the cube. Students are estimating, visualizing, measuring, adding and multiplying fractions and whole numbers to determine the volume of the cube.

Students watch the short film The Biology of Skin Color, pausing at specific points. After watching a particular segment of the film, they analyze data presented in a scientific figure and make evidence-based claims using the data and information from the film. The lesson involves graph interpretation and analysis. It was designed to be completed in one 90-minute class period, depending on the amount of class discussion. The lesson brings together many science practices and is appropriate for all levels of high school biology and introductory college courses.
This lesson was adapted from the case study “The Evolution of Human Skin Color” by Dr. Annie Prud'homme-Généreux published by the National Center for Case Study Teaching in Science (http://sciencecases.lib.buffalo.edu/cs/files/skin_pigmentation.pdf).
