This reading log is meant to help students monitor their reading in class. There is a tab for each month so students can track how many books they read in the school year. Students also track the date and notes about the book they are reading.

Percussionist Steven Angel has developed an innovative program that uses rhythm to help struggling students improve their reading fluency and comprehension. Deceptively simple -- a facilitator taps out a basic rhythm while students read aloud -- the method relaxes students, helps them focus, and is effective in after-school intervention programs as well as traditional classrooms.

Improves reading through work on vocabulary development, motor skills, comprehension and some reading rate improvement. Instruction includes sentence structure, paragraph and essay development, and written expression. Students can expect to increase working vocabulary and improve skills in basic communications.

Between choosing wording for labels, selecting packaging materials, and monitoring product quality, product managers often face serious ethical dilemmas. In this LAP, students will examine several common ethical issues that product managers deal with on a daily basis – and gain an in-depth understanding of the importance of ethical behavior in product/service management. In the Gray Zone, students will consider the case of a product manager who is facing pressure to label a new product with “no sugar added,” despite the product’s naturally high sugar levels. This briefing introduces students to the concept of the selling process and its phases. It walks through the steps in the selling process. First, use the briefing (found in Task 1) to teach students about this concept. Then, each student should observe a sales presentation in which the salesperson used a selling process. The central component of the text and workbook is a series of 26 half-hour video episodes. The videos allow students to learn authentic Spanish and experience its cultural diversity while following a good story full of surprises and human emotions. Students also listen to an audio-only program integrated with the text and workbook. In the classroom, students do a variety of activities and exercises, which include talking in Spanish about the video program, practicing pronunciation and grammar, and interacting in Spanish with classmates in pairs and small groups. The class is conducted in Spanish as much as possible, but English is used where necessary for clarity and efficiency. This course deals with all basic language skills: aural comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing. This class assumes no previous knowledge of Spanish.

This video introduces how text structure helps us remember what we learn, why our brain likes the strategy, and the text structures of problem/solution and cause/effect.  The video addresses that expert learners use these strategies and then refers to a few inventors that may have used these.
