I use this interactive and editable Connection Wheel for students to connect a variety of ideas to one main topic or concept. It can be used in pretty much any class and can be for projects, individual work, or however else you want to use it. I love it. 

The Wisconsin State Herbarium (WIS), formerly known as the University of Wisconsin-Madison Herbarium, was founded in 1849, and is a scientific collection of pressed, dried, labeled, and classified plants and fungi. It also preserves notes, illustrations, and other material about plants, and it maintains its own valuable Herbarium Library. The collection of more than 1.2 million specimens is of regional, national, and international importance. Approximately one-fourth of its vascular plant specimens are from Wisconsin, all of which have been databased and are searchable online. In addition, most of the world's floras are well represented, and the holdings from certain areas such as the Upper Midwest, eastern North America, western Mexico, and the Arctic (primarily lichens) are widely recognized as resources of global significance. The herbarium occupies two floors of the east wing of historic Birge Hall at the top of Bascom Hill on the UW-Madison campus. In addition to its specimen holdings, visitors to WIS have access to high-quality microscopes, an extensive library of books, reprints and maps, computer workstations, and internet connections for personal computers. WIS serves as the state of Wisconsin's official repository of plant specimen vouchers, and is actively engaged in educating students and sharing our passion for plants with the public. The faculty, staff, and students associated with the herbarium are engaged in a variety of local, regional, national, and international efforts to document, showcase, and protect plant diversity.

This lesson lets students look at the Constitution from the perspective of its foundational principles. Students make direct connections between these principles, the Founders’ intentions, and the Constitution itself, and they learn why the constitutional principles are critical to a free society.

This is a video that reviews key academic vocabulary that are essential when learning about the coordinate plane while a character is attempting to find a treasure. Cornell's Lab of Ornithology provides a series of downloadable lessons which explore the topics of science process, natural and sexual selection, behaviors and heritability through hands-on activities and lively discussions. The lessons are companions to their "Bird's-of-Paradise Project" video series.  This set of lessons is part of a larger set of curricular and lesson resources available and through downloads.

This lesson builds on counting skills using an upbeat musical song. This is a foundational kindergarten concept and provides experience with rote counting, rythmic beat, and visual number recognition.  Students will begin to see the numeric patterning of numbers while singing the song.

Crash Course U.S. History is exactly what it sounds like.  This youtube series is incredibly informative, fun, and relevant to the students.  I use Crash Course not as a lesson replacement, but as an intro to what I will be covering in more detail.  It could be used in many different ways, but I highly recommend it as a resource the students will enjoy.

Big Idea: 3-digit numbers can contain a “hundred," which is equal to 10 groups of 10.
This lesson builds on previous lessons' work with two-digit numbers. The task asks students to model the three-digit number shown in the question according to guidelines, i.e. with only hundreds and tens. This approach gives students support in building three-digit numbers; the base ten blocks give students a jumping-off point for their thinking. For instance, they can immediately think about how they could show 21 in only ones instead of tens and ones.

This activity allows the user to explore different cross sections of various cones, cylinders, prisms, and pyramids. Cross sections can be difficult for students to understand, given that the concept requires that students switch between three-dimensional shapes and two-dimensional representations of those shapes.

The COVID-19 pandemic shaped 2020 into a year characterized by public health and economic crises in the United States, destabilizing millions of families. One of the most striking and consistent indicators of ongoing hardship is an elevated level of food insecurity in American households. Food insecurity sits at the intersection of the economy and health; it is measure that a household lacks sufficient resources to provide adequate nutrition to its members.

In this brief activity, which could also be used as an assessment, students will analyze an infographic on the distribution of household income loss and very low food security among children by 2019 income levels.
