An application of fractions with ties to culinary careers and life skills in the upper elementary grades.

Students create a resume for their future selves. This way they can see/plan what they want their future to look like. This can also tie into a goal setting unit. I've use an assigment similar to this in Career Exploration. 

This resource is a project that allows students to explore careers related to the topic of Genetics.  Students will research a career that interests them related to Genetics, create a presentation, then present to the class.

In this project-based learning lesson plan, students will explore the historical narratives surrounding the Holocaust and the significance of its impact on the world. Through a variety of activities and assessments, students will develop their critical thinking and analytical skills, as well as their knowledge of the Holocaust and its implications. In this lesson, they will be exploring Heroes of the Holocaust.

This project is useful for math classes that have an opportunity to allow students to explore deeper into math related careers.

In this project, students will explore various careers associated with metalworking through research from the Occupational Outlook Handbook and real local job listings. They will then create a tailored resume for a job listing of their choice, showcasing the needed skills and relevant education/training and work history. The goal is to help students understand the different career paths in metalworking and the needed skills and education they will need to develop  to increase their employability in the industry as well as learn how to create a professional resume document. 

This career-connected learning document houses two resource guides for both teachers and students at Oconomowoc High School. Each resource guide is modeled after the DPI's Academic & Career Planning resource: Know, Explore, Plan & Go. While exploring our school's current status in regards to career-connected learning, we discovered a need for an accessible, centralized resource for current and future educators. After collecting student feedback, we also discovered that students have a need for an accessible, centralized resource guide, as well. This document is a living document, and as career-connected learning evolves and expands at Oconomowoc High Scholl, our goal is that our resource guides not only helps make that possible, but evolves as well.These documents will be housed in Class Link, in Xello, and under staff and student bookmarks on our school's intranet.

This resource contains the documents used by students in our Global Sustainability cohort who participated in a bilingual action project with a community partner. The projects are designed to help students develop professional skills by reflecting on goals they want to achieve through participation in the project. The students complete an initial reflection, multiple check-ins throughout the year and an end of the year reflection. The students also create an impact report that is shared with their community partner. 

This is an activity for Spanish 3, which is linked as a resource in Oconomowoc High School's Teacher Resource Guide. In this activity, students investigate their individual career interests, in preparation for their summative assessment (a student-generated career fair) in a unit on Careers / Professions. In the activity, students explore aspects of a chosen career, such as education needed, necessary experience, the importance of being bilingual in the chosen profession, etc.

This is a marketing plan that students can develop for something they are interested in making/selling.  This was used at our school when our tech ed department was having the students make prototypes.  Then in the math department we had them use these materials to make a marketing plan to see if the price they wanted to sell their prototypes was reasonable.  They are able to find how long it will take for them to start making a profit and are able to make adjustments along the way.

This is a lesson plan for a professional luncheon. It goes over dress attire, dining etiquette, social expectations and other resources needed to help students successfully participate their first business luncheon. This was part of a resource guide developed for teachers and students. 

This unit incorporates student learning about branches of engineering and the engineering design process through the creation of a Rube Goldberg device.  It currently is being utilized in a high school physics class but could be modified to be used in any middle school or high school science class that focuses on physics standards.  The lesson in total takes around 12 class days.

This activity guides students through analyzing the social media postings of five businesses based on a theme of the student's choice. After making their observations of good and bad business practices, students will create their own posts with pictures.

We have many guaranteed CTE experiences/events for Altoona High School. However, we have never attempted to formally connect them back to the classroom. This year we intentionally created reflection surveys for students to complete, shortly after each event.

Students participate in a STEM challenge to make the tallest, freestanding tower with the material provided, while other engineering challenges occur.
