In this unit, high school juniors will research one career of their choice, based on analysis of results of their three assessments on Career Cruising (Career Matchmaker, Ability Profiler and Learning Styles Inventory). In this process, students will develop the skills necessary to writing a high-quality, well-founded research paper. Topics will include source integrity, works cited pages (both formatting and the creation of citations for works cited page), the correct format for various in-text citations, stages of research, development of graphic organizers, translation of graphic organizer in the creation of an outline, transferring outline topics to paragraphs, developing strong introductory and concluding paragraphs, creating effective transition sentences, formatting cover pages, editing, revising, peer editing and submission of final draft.

Students will research a career of their choice and present information about their chosen career in the form of a wax museum where they dress like the people would in that career and report basic facts about the chosen career path, such as education, salaries, and daily activities.

This course is designed to equip you with the tools to succeed during your college career. This course will provide the opportunity for you to learn and practice methods that will assist you in identifying and reaching your academic and career goals.

This lesson will allow students to think about and understand the route that a food service product takes in order to get to the customer from start (customer ordering) to finish (delivery to customer). Students will also brainstorm and research the different departments/specific careers that are needed in order to accomplish this goal of food service distribution. ServSafe will also be explored since we are discussing products that are food related.

This article discusses many options that students have to gain work experience and learn on the job.

Students will brainstorm a list of careers/jobs that may be available at a papermill. From that list they will then take 1 of those jobs and do an in depth study of one of those potential jobs/careers.

Core subject for students majoring in management science. Surveys individual and social psychology and organization theory interpreted in the context of the managerial environment. Laboratory involves projects of an applied nature in behavioral science. Emphasizes use of behavioral science research methods to test hypotheses concerning organizational behavior. Instruction and practice in communication include report writing, team decision-making, and oral and visual presentation. Twelve units may be applied to the General Institute Laboratory Requirement.

In this lesson, students will have the opportunity to work in teams of two to solve a workplace problem in a way that is efficient, practical, and simple. This career lesson plan is especially geared toward students with cognitive disabilities.

Students are able to decide where in Texas they are going to live and then make financial choices that will correlate with the lifetyle they think they want to have. They will decide where they live, what they buy, and what they save. Once they make all of their financial decisions, they will be given a minimum salary that they will need to be able to maintain that lifestyle. They are then able to search jobs that they are interested in and see the starting salaries that they come with. This allows them to see the reality of what their lifetyle and career path is.

Lesson Objective: At the completion of this lesson, students will understand the meaning of scarcity and opportunity cost. Provides graduate students and fellows with techniques that enhance both validity and responsible conduct in scientific practice. Topics include study design, laboratory practice, treatment of data, human and animal research, intellectual property, preparation of proposals, research papers, posters, and oral presentations. Also discussed are mentoring relationships and career options. Aspects of responsible research conduct are integrated as appropriate to the specific topic under discussion. Subject satisfies the training grant requirements of the NIH for education in the responsible conduct of research. This course is designed to provide graduate students and postdoctoral associates with techniques that enhance both validity and responsible conduct in scientific practice. Lectures present practical steps for developing skills in scientific research and are combined with discussion of cases. The course covers study design, preparation of proposals and manuscripts, peer review, authorship, use of humans and non-human animals in research, allegations of misconduct, and intellectual property. Also discussed are mentoring relationships and career options. Aspects of responsible research conduct are integrated into lectures and case discussion as appropriate to the specific topic. This course also satisfies the training grant requirements of the NIH for education in the responsible conduct of research.

The formation of a personal career identify or work personality is the key to helping students understand the type of careers that they will find fulfilling. The key is guiding the students through assessments where thematic, or repeating characteristics, are identified with the help of teachers, counselor, or other adults. This collection of lessons has been used successfully with "at-risk" youth many times. The student identifies career clusters of interests then correlates their work personality/career identity to the pathway within career clusters of interest. This strategy helps organize the world of careers into a more manageable one so the student can conceptualize the selection of careers using a simple guided process. There are written assessments for use and links to online. Educators may want to utilize tools that are available to them. Teachers working with homeless and "at-risk" youth have indicated that the hard copy assessments are necessary to their work. The process will remain the same. It is important that the students see the results of the assessment and descriptions in one place to assist with the identification of reoccuring themes.
