Learn Uake, Hmong Museum Education Resources for K-12, offers a unit of study (10 lessons) for grades 7-12. Learn Uake is a central location for students, teachers, and parents to find enriching research-based resources about Hmong people, history, culture, and art.

Filipino sailors arrived in California as early as 1587. In 1763, Filipino sailors settled in a Louisiana bayou, and became the first Filipino immigrants to settle in the United States, known as “Manilamen.” Along with enslaved people and other people of color, the Filipino immigrants built a small fishing village called Saint Malo. The Manilamen made many contributions including revolutionizing the shrimping industry.

This unit focuses on the geography of South America. The unit incorporates technology by using resources like Google Earth and the CIA World Factbook website. The unit includes links to 5 individual lessons. All lessons include links to necessary materials. Everything for the lesson is created on the Google Platform (docs, slides) and can be easily adapted to Regions other than South America.
