This Desmos activity walks students through the addition of integers by starting with balancing values. The activity is interactive and allows students to work at their own pace. About half way through there's a reflection question which encourages math discourse. This was a great introductory lesson that encouraged my students to think without reaching levels of frustration. Towards the end it also challenges students to analyze statements made by the Desmos characters, reaching a new level on the depths of knowledge wheel.

This Desmos activity allows students to explore the area of triangles with online geoboards. This resource was helpful in understanding that a triangle is half of a square/rectangle. Students were able to conceptualize why the formula for a triangle includes the "multiply by 1/2". Students can work at their own pace and encourage math discourse.

Students will read an article online about the first four presidents. The online article provides scaffolds for vocabulary and reading. Students can use the online quiz to check for understanding. Students will then perform a close reading of the article following six text dependent questions. The lesson describes the activities along with the language to use for each of the questions.

This Desmos activity in an introductory lesson to unit rate. The lesson starts by having students make an estimate on performing a "clicking task" and actually performing the task. Students are asked to reflect on the comparison between their estimation and the actual results. As students begin to conceptualize strategies their ideas evolve into calculating unit rate. Students use "click bot" data to find the unit rate to determine the "click bot" winner in the clicker challenge. This lesson is interactive and allows students to work at their own pace.
