This group of activities, tasks, videos, and lessons allowed me to reinforce the classification of quadrilaterals. I used this lesson in my math intervention grouping of seventh graders that were struggling with Geometry shapes. There is a variety of ways to reinforce the skill while students were very engaged. The sites were really easy to share with the ease linking to Google Classroom.

This 40-day final module of the year offers students intensive practice with word problems, as well as hands-on investigation experiences with geometry and perimeter.  The module begins with solving one- and two-step word problems based on a variety of topics studied throughout the year, using all four operations.  Next students explore geometry.  Students tessellate to bridge geometry experience with the study of perimeter.  Line plots, familiar from Module 6, help students draw conclusions about perimeter and area measurements.  Students solve word problems involving area and perimeter using all four operations.  The module concludes with a set of engaging lessons that briefly review the fundamental Grade 3 concepts of fractions, multiplication, and division.

I utilized this activity in my seventh grade math intervention group to reinforce Geometric Shapes and the properties they have and the commonality of those shapes. This activity also connects to fractional understanding and spacial relationships as well as symmetry when solving the third activity.

Using the Michael Battista's Cognition Based Assessment materials, and used this activity to conceptually work and investigate the common properties of shapes.

In the game Polygon Capture, students select polygons based on specific attributes as associated with angles of the polygon and sides of the polygons.  During the activity, students will be presented with situations they may not always encounter in geomoetry.  For instance, instead of being asked to select "all polygons with right angles" and "all polygons with 4 equal sides" they may be asked to select "all polygons with at least one right angle" and with "no parallel sides."

Students will be given a sheet with shape names on it.  They will draw several two-dimensional shapes using the information that they already know about.  They will look over their shapes and compare them, first to their other shapes and then to other students.  While doing this the students will look at what attributes make up the different shapes.  They will also compare and contrast their own shapes.
