Overview / Description: This lesson incorporates counting up to 10 and making groups of 10.  It also shows a new way to count teen numbers, 10 ones and ___ ones.

I added counting collections of numbers 10-20 into this lesson so students get comfortable making groups of 10 ones and counting them.  This relates to the learning goal of counting straws into piles of 10; count the piles as 10 ones.

Learning goals/objectives: Count straws into piles of 10; count the piles as 10 ones.

After completing this activity, students should be able to . . . Count piles of 10, and count the piles as 10 ones.
