Have the students read through the attached Booklet.
and fill out the attached KWL chart before and during using the booklet.
Lab Preparation
Have the students create their own salsa recipe. They can utilize existing recipes and modify but they need to make sure they have all element to a good salsa recipe. They also need to create a shopping list for the teacher.
Lab
Have the students prepare their salsa and as a class can the batch of salsa using the boiling water method.
Evaluation Notes
Discuss what elements of Food evaluation are important. Talk about evaluating Food using the attached presentation.
Taste Test
Have the students test the different salsa Recipes. Use the attached worksheet to help compare the different salsas.
