Discuss what a franchise is and what are advantages and disadvantages to them. Also a research project that goes along with that.
Students will research what it takes to open a Franchise. From startup costs and building requirements to support and how much of profits get returned to corporate. Students learn a lot from this project. A fun idea is to bring in a franchise owner to speak to the class prior to assigning this project.
This activity is for a Sports and Entertainment Marketing course. There are five phases to the project. Students will develop their own sports franchise or concert tour. Students will identify a new market, design a stadium, come up with a distribution plan, price tickets, develop sales promotions for their new team, and develop merchandise for the team.
