Ecosystems with a Focus on Human Impact

In this section students will explore the ways that ecosystems naturally keep themselves balanced.

What are the cycles within ecosystems that help to keep them balanced?

  • Water Cycle
    • Have students discuss the steps of the water cycle that they have witness.  (example: puddles evaporating, different types of precipitation, etc.)
    • Follow these activities to show the distribution of water in the world.  Activity 1 and Activity 2
  • Carbon Cycle -- Define and discuss briefly
  • Phosphorus Cycle -- Define and discuss briefly
  • Nitrogen Cycle -- Define and discuss briefly
