This activity was used with a tier 3 fourth grade intervention math group to help students count by tens in mid-decades and count forward and back by ones. I found this activity on HelpingWithMath.com but modified it by first having students note patterns in a hundreds chart; specifically noting that counting to ten by ones increases the digit in the tens place by one. Students also used place value blocks to model the changes in the tens numbers.
