Administrative Law Research & Team Presentation


Administrative law governs the internal operations of agencies and ensures that they do not abuse their power. The main goal of administrative law is to protect the interests of the public as it interacts with government, such as when a person applies for Social Security or food stamps.


Examples of agencies:

  • Central Intelligence Agency

  • Environment Protection Agency

  • Commodity Futures Trading Commission

  • Federal Election Commission

  • Federal Communications Commission

  • Federal Trade Commission

  • General Services Administration

  • National Archives and Records Administration

  • National Labor Relations Board

  • National Transportation Safety Board

  • Small Business Administration

  • Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)

  • United States Agency for International Development

  • United States Postal Service

  • Federal Energy Regulatory Commission

Your presentation is to include:

  • Agency, acronym, website home page and link

  • Purpose of the agency (why is it in existence?)

  • Major roles/functions of the agency (what does it do, what does it offer our government, and how does it protect our citizens)

  • Major issues that the agency addresses

  • Two (court) cases of interest and the result of the court proceedings

    • Include a description of the situation

    • Court documentation (link)

    • Court decision

  • Two-four general current events and potential implications for future court cases
