2nd Grade Engage Module 6 Lesson 16 - With a Tessellation Project

MAPS Math Lesson Plan

Title: 2nd Grade Mod 6 Lesson 16 with a Tessellation ProjectAuthor: Christopher Hahn
Subject(s):  Math
Grade Level(s): 2nd Total Time: 60 minutes

Overview / Description: This lesson is about creating designs to develop spatial structuring.  It starts out with a brief video that relates directly to the goals.  Next, students create their own tessellation project.

Learning goals/objectives:

After completing this activity, students should be able to . . .create a design using spatial structuring with no gaps and no overlaps.

Content Standards:2.G.2-Partition a rectangle into rows and columns of same-size squares and count to find the total number of them.

Assessment: Our formative assessment will be looking at students' projects to see that they could create a design using spatial structuring with no gaps and no overlaps.

Wrap-Up/Closing: Students will share their creation that they made with their table mates.
