Toys Spreadsheets Activity

A TOYS Spreadsheet Activity 2019

You have won a $2500 shopping spree to Toys R Us (http://www.amazon.com/).

You are informed that the total cost of all the toys you select must not go over $2500, tax included. Also, the total cost of all the toys (tax included) must fall between $2495 and $2500 or you lose everything.

You are going to use a spreadsheet for calculating the exact amount of money you are spending and how much money is left to spend out of the $2500. You can keep your spreadsheet open on the screen and the Internet with the Amazon website. This will allow you to work more efficiently if you need to switch back and forth between the two so you can check new prices online or delete items that cost too much from your spreadsheet.

Most Wanted Toys Rules:

  1. You must buy a minimum of 20 items, but can buy more.
  2. You may only have two items with a total cost of over $150.
  3. Your ending balance must be $5.00 or less.
  4. You will get 5 bonus points if you have $0.05 or less.
  5. You cannot purchase a gift card.
  6. An example of how you might set your spreadsheet is shown below

(you don’t have to use the items listed, they are just shown for an example).

  1. Make sure all the cells that reflect dollars have two decimal places and a dollar sign.
  2. You need to use a formula for each item that you decide to purchase.
  3. Think about buying these items for your and others in your family.
