In many districts the ACP Coordinator, CTE Coordinator, and/or YA Coordinator may be the same person!  This timeline is meant to be a high level overview to help educators juggling these multiple roles.

The ASK exams are an industry certification that students can take and they are also listed on the approved list for CTE Incentive grants. There are 5 different exams that students can take: Fundamental Business Concepts, Fundamental Marketing Concepts, Concepts of Finance, Concepts of Entrepreneurship and Management, and Fundamentals of Ethics.

The Fundamental Business Concepts would be great for any student that has taken a variety of business classes in a program. It assessed basic business concepts, business communication, personal finance, marketing, and some management. Exams need to be taken on a computer at your location with a testing proctor.

In these lessons, you will learn about the numerous pieces of legislation that impact students with disabilities, including Perkins V. You will also learn strategies to support students with disabilities in secondary CTE through appropriate CTE program placement.

Work-based Learning addresses the delivery of a continuum of work-based learning involving sustained, meaningful interactions with industry or community professionals that foster in-depth, firsthand engagement with the tasks required in a given career field. Experiences may be delivered in workplaces, in the community, at educational institutions and/or virtually, as appropriate, and include a range of activities such as workplace tours, job shadowing, school-based enterprises, internships and apprenticeships.

The purpose of Brave Dialogues: A Guide to Discussing Racial Equity in Career Technical Education is to provide state Career Technical Education (CTE) leaders with tools to engage in discussion around racial equity in CTE and to support state CTE leaders in creating an environment in which all stakeholders have the language and comfort to discuss challenges and opportunities related to racial equity in CTE.

Poverty and homelessness, food insecurity, substance and alcohol abuse, social pressure and anxiety and depression all impact a student’s ability to learn, not to mention the acute struggles that have arisen from the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbating the pressures students feel on a daily basis. Widely viewed as an integral part of the American education system, social-emotional learning (SEL) helps young people navigate the challenges and stressors of life in and outside the classroom.

Whether you are a brand new CTE Administrator or an experienced Administrator new to CTE, thess lessons highlight the leadership and administrative skill necessary for the successful operation of CTE programs. The goal is to provide topics for you to explore further in your professional development and to equip you with a general knowledge of the world of CTE Administration.
