Six Thinking Hats Final Thoughts
Rating
0.0 stars

As a class, read the book Six Thinking Hats by Edward DeBono. This book provides a framework to help people think clearly and thoroughly by directing their thinking attention in one direction at a time--white hat facts, green hat creativity, yellow hat benefits, black cautions, red hat feelings, and blue hat process.
Six Thinking Hats is a powerful book that facilitates critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity. It allows each person's unique point of view to be included and considered.
This activity will test students on their knowledge of what was learned through reading and discussion.
This can be used as final assessment after reading the book.

Students will diagram and identify a change of state. Students will describe the energy, spacing and speed of the particles before and after this change.

Based on a student activity where students danced around the room acting as particles, students will identify an incorrect action during the dance. They will explain why the action did not fit the particle model and how it could be corrected. See below for an idea this is based on.

How long will the fidget spinner spin? This 3 Act Task by Graham Fletcher begins with a short portion of a video with a fidget spinner in motion. First students make observations and estimates to begin determining how long the fidget spinner will be in motion. Students are then given the total number of spins and the average spins per second. Using division of a 4 digit dividend by a 1 digit divisor and conversion skills, students calculate the amount of time the spinner will spin.

This assessment involves students using technology to create videos that represent their own interests, sharing these videos on an online platform, and react to other students’ videos. It may be adapted to use in any level and to any world language.

This assessment focuses on all three modes of communication and empowers students to become members of the target language's social media community.

This lesson was developed as a part of the Creating Lessons Using Transformative Technology - Platteville Public Schools OER grant and was inspired by George Couros’s “Identity Day”, as described in his book “The Innovator’s Mindset: Empower Learning, Unleash Talent, and Lead a Culture of Creativity”.
