Click on this resource to find lesson plans and web resources aligned to the Marketing Career Cluster. Be sure to think outside the box--many careers can be found in multiple career clusters and many career clusters can be taught as part of the curricula in multiple middle and high school classes! Disciplinary Literacy resources are included because reading, writing, speaking, and listening in this content area are critical skills for students to master if they are pursuing careers in this content area.
All careers rely on Math-related skills like measurement and computation. Specifically Math-related careers can also be found in the following Career Cluster Chart.
The mathematical modeling process often begins with messy real-life problems that require students to formulate questions, make assumptions, and construct a mathematical model to describe a real world situation. Wisconsin Math Council is happy to launch our Wisconsin Modeling Challenges. Each challenge contains the context and a strategy to launch the modeling task so that students at any grade level can identify questions and make observations. Each challenge also contains specific grade level modeling tasks related to the context. WMC hopes that these challenges will engage your learners in experiences to become “flexible users of mathematics who see how mathematics can be used to understand their world and the world around them.”
The Context for Challenge 1: Meals on Wheels delivers approximately 221 million meals each year to 2.4 million seniors. Meals are delivered around lunch time by volunteers who also conduct wellness checks.

Districts in the initiating phase of Academic and Career Planning are increasingly looking for a suggested calendar of ACP activities that can be used to fulfill the PI26 requirements for ACP. The following example calendar of activities can be a place to start. In the chart you’ll find:
* One 30-minute ACP time per month
* Activities which align to the Xello scope and sequence (which means alignment with high school suggested scope and sequence)
* Introduction to other online career research resources
* Some Xello interactive lessons which require students to save careers or interests as prerequisites--please follow the lessons in this order to have the correct prerequisites completed before the Xello lessons
* Struggling students may need additional time to complete activities, while accelerated students can choose from the optional activities for each grade if they complete the activity before class is done
* Optional activities which can be used for enrichment
With the purpose of assisting Wisconsin middle and high school students to better understand the various aspects of Academic and Career Planning, CESA 10 has reached out to past graduates. Young professionals will share information about their chosen occupation, as well as career-related experiences during high school that were beneficial in discovering their own ACP journey.
